I say Amen to that rhetorical question and here is some thing I wrote about a year ago:
Where are the tears?

To the ones defeated

There is much sorrow
and grief over those
who left their cosy homes
to fight a gruesome war
in a land far away,
never to return alive.

I share this grief and bow
n silent commiseration,
hoping that ere long
madness will give way
to sanity and grace
but only to learn again
that Macbeths do seldom
retract their bloody course.

So much for the ones
who are always right.

But what about the ones
whose land they invaded,
whose homes they ravaged,
whose supplies they cut off,
whose women they dishonoured,
whose children they did kill?

Should they be left without
a melodious tear or two?

Thanks Sup and Maya

I was very happy to have your valuable readership and comments on this article. This was a topic close to my heart and my first short story and first post in Sulekha.

This piece appears in 'creative', so I take it for granted that it is fiction.

I have read other comments, so I am a bit apprehensive about raising my lone voice of dissent. However, I am a free spirit, as free as the bird that said kank kyu.

I just wonder what justification the character in this story has for setting free a parakeet that did NOT belong to him and thus abusing the hospitality of his friend, whom it belonged.

I also wonder why he did not set the dog Pirate also free.

I am sorry if I have hurt other people's feelings by asking these questions.

Iwould like to add some of mine

People never plan to fail but fail to plan

Plan your work and work out your plan

A Chinese proverb

Worry is such an expensive guest that no one can afford to entertain it.

This one is not a proverb but I like it

No matter what happens there will always be somebody who knew it would
