technically Islam permits their women to marry nonmuslim men, as long as the nonmuslim man converts. (2:221)

but since the women are generally restricted, its usually the man meeting the nonmuslim and doing the converting. However, it can, and it has, go the other way, with the muslim woman converting the nonmuslim husband. Refer to the writer Amitava Kumar.

Apropos `Why India refuses AID'by S.

I'd just like to give you my two bits, like it or not.

Hand on heart it isn't necessarily cash injections alone that India itches for - on balance we will eventually be able to cushion the economic impact of this disaster but a little help from richer nations is not going to hurt. It 's akin to giving a fillip to the Centre's effort in helping people re-construct their lives as they struggle to pick up the pieces and try to move on, in the months and years ahead.

A harrowing thought that crosses the mind, though, is the level of emergency care nursing and rehabilitative therapy that can be had from our health care service, stretched as it already is. It is common knowledge we do not yet have world standard first aid & emergency care available in many parts of the country( cities included) and having foreign teams of trained para-medics and emergency care nurses on ground zero working in tandem with local doctors would most definitely be a godsend. Delhi ought not to get caught up in India's image as a regional or an Indian ocean super-power, preventing it from requesting for bits and bobs of foreign assistance.

Equally, will the Microsofts and General Electrics of Indian industry please stand up and take on a far more prominent role in footing the bill please?

A timely study. Let the reasoning be never obliterated by remorse, anger or despair. The right views form the foundation of a nation, which makes your analysis crucial.

Sri Chakravarti knows history well.
He shows how the Brits and Muslims work against the interest of Hindus and Hindustan.

The enemies have freedom (legal or illegal, moral or immoral) to do whatever they can, against the Hindus, but the Hindus could have defeated the enemy plans if:

- they had a sense of national interests

- they had one language all over Bharat. Traveling sadhus and saints kept Hindus dharma conscious, but could not unite for national interest.
dharma, gita, Ramayan, and Mahabharat kept Hindus united as a group who accepted the Vedas as the scripture of mankind. They just loved these books.

There was no federation of leaders to think of national interests and act.

The pursuit of domination over others and others' lands is discouraged by Hinduism. In contrast Xianity and Islam are very much interested in dominating this world, and have no much interest in the spiritual world.
Consequently, Hindus do not try to become aware of what these enemies are cooking against them; and the enemies do.

What the Hindus need to do (to win over the ant-Hindus) is:

- Know Hinduism correctly as it is given in gita. Why gita? Because, gita unites us all Hindus. It is the summary of the Vedas.

- Practice Hinduism correctly. Live by gita. Practice varnasrama by guna and karma, not by birth. Know that all varna are of equal importance for the Vedic society.

- Understand that our global goal is to create a Vedic society of 1B Hindus who can freely practice any Vedic yoga/sadhana without any disturbance or check form any foreign ideology follower. (Islam, Xianity, Communism, etc. are foreign ideologies in Hindustan).

- Understand that to practice dharma (either to get moksha or to see god or to live with god, or to merge in god, or to lie a happy sin-free life) we need our body, and we need our land, Hindustan.

- So, for the protection and functioning of the Vedic society in Hindustan, we need Brahmans who study scriptures , practice dharma, and guide the Hindus how to live per dharma. We also need kshatriyas to maintain law and order within, and to protect against any outside aggression. We need vaishyas to do farming and trades, and shudras to do labor.

- Understand that, per gita, each varna is eligible to go to heaven or god. Respect all vernas.

- Understand that in emergency, any varna can do any other varna's duties. The current situation is such that almost all Hindus need to do some kshatriya work. Brahmans can fight intellectually with anti-Hindu ideologies arguments. Kshatriyas can fight by taking up positions in police and military, or by organizing vigilante groups in neighborhoods.
vaishyas can fight by taking all the business from the hands of the ant-Hindus. Shudras can fight by not giving service to anti-Hindus.

- Understand that the need is to follow Krishna who said to Arjun to fight when Arjun said he does not want to fight. Do not follow Gandhi. His preaching is against Krishna's. Krishna is god, Gandhi is not.

- Understand that because Islam (Koran) is not compatible with Hinduism (Gita), Muslims and Hindu can never live together in peace for a long time. To live with Islam is like to live with cobra in your home.

- Give up all efforts to befriend with Muslims. Tell them that they can go live in Pakistan or give up Islam because their ancestors were Hindus who were converted by force. Now they have no reason to stick with Islam any more. Tell them that Hindus tan is for Hindus, the Vedic people, just as Israel is for the Jews. Islam has invaded in Hindustan, and therefore has no place there. It needs to go out.

- Use many non violent ways to get Islam and Xianity out of Hindustan.
Economic boycott is a very effective way.

- By grass root vote or by kranti, change the constitution of Hindustan so that it never favors the foreign ideology followers.

- Request all Hindu gurus to unite for dharma and rashtra. To the world we say "we are Hindus and gita is our book, none other." Internally we are free to practice any Vedic sampradaya.

- Let all schools teach devanagari script and all use that only for writing, no matter what language they write. We have a national language, Hindu, and we all should learn it well. Discourage Urdu infested Hindi.

- Do not buy, or work for, or trade with anti-Hindu newspapers and media.
Take hold of media and use it for dharma and rashtra interests.

- Make the society free from corruption.

- Never say "politics is for gundas." Instead good Hindus need to go in politics, so that bad ones stay out defeated.

- Know true history of Hindustan. Burn the history books written for us by our enemies.

- Manusmriti, a Vedic scripture (even though never was used as a law book) was buried in the Vedic land. There is no reason why Koran cannot be buried in the Vedic land.

Freedom is not free. freedom to practice dharma is not free.
Always think of the solutions when you understand problems.

Unity is power. Asuras have united. We the suras have no choice but to unite, and gita unites us all. We need leaders, and sevaks in every fields of life and works.

Jai Sanatana Dharma!

Jaya targets Karunanidhi, Maran in probe

1 January 2005: The Aladi-Aruna murder case is becoming an all-important weapon for Tamil-Nadu chief-minister J.Jayalalithaa to ensnare DMK supremo M.Karunanidhi and his nephew, Dayanidhi Maran, the Union communications minister.

Aruna, a former law minister who was also called V.Arunachalam, was murdered alongwith a teacher friend on their morning walk in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli district yesterday, and AIDMK sources said that state police have been instructed to proceed on the matter parallel to the Sankararaman homicide, in which the Kanchi Shankaracharya, Jayendra Saraswati, has been held for conspiracy.

Aladi Aruna began accusing Karunanidhi of nepotism and threatened corruption revelations after the DMK denied him a ticket in the general elections, and the AIDMK says the Sankararaman parallel holds that DMK bosses must be questioned for his murder.

Since Karunanidhi remains unwell, and DMK management and fund-raising have generally passed on to Dayanidhi, instructions are apparently out to nail the communications minister in the case, with Jayalalithaa hoping for opposition NDA support and expecting an embarrassed Congress leadership to remain silent.

DMK sources say it is unfair to construe that because Aruna threatened the DMK leadership with exposure, the leadership conspired to kill him, but the Tamil-Nadu police has been informally told to concentrate “seventy per cent” of the investigation on targeting Karunanidhi and Maran.

Sources said that the state government expects the first murder investigations to end in about a month-and-a-half, by when the tsunami tragedy would lose its news edge, and it would be opportune then to target the DMK leadership, hoping to damage it before assembly elections, which could then be advanced.

SI writes:

>>How will I transform India to be more tolerant and broadminded to minorities as the US is to us.

Actually, the issue that we are working on is: How will we transform India to be more tolerant and broadminded to the majority!!

>>Which is more precious, your living body or a material stone?

Which is more precious - to whom? Who are you to decide what choices others should make and what others consider more important?

>>He accuses Muslims that they are not marrying other people and calls it non adaptability. But he does not want Hindus to marry non Hindus.

You need to re-read my article after about an hour of meditation to clear your mind off of the Dalitstan brainwashing.

SameerPV writes:

>>Whenever a civilisation tried to violate sexual sanctity - it perished.

Lycos Magee had written an article some time ago on pre-marital sex. Please read my comments on that article and then you will see for yourself what my views on that subject are.

>>Indian women marry American men more than the other way around.

Disagree on the statistics. But even if it were true, that's not the point. American/British/Australian men to not restrict their women either by threat of force or brainwashing to not marry other men. They follow a free-market for partners. However, muslim men want the free-market to work one way. That's the main crux. Reciprocitity is critical to Participation. There is enough evidence that Muslim societies lack reciprocity when it comes to this very important issue. Until this happens, violence and conflict with non-muslim societies will continue.

This is very similiar to India granting MFN status to Pakistan, and Pakistan not only does not grant the same to India, but continues its Jihad against it.

>>Islamic women in Western societies. Totally independent

You're...kidding, I hope!! I would like to see some Muslim women marrying white men(without asking them to go thru conversion), and then going to Church on Sundays with their husband and children.(They can go to the mosque as well, and they should.) Then I will believe that islamic women in western societies are totally independant.

>>i love doing things. and getting them done fast

Who doesn't? However, not everything happens at your pace, and eventually patience becomes your best friend. Doing things well is more important than doing them fast.

>>Can you come up with a book..

You are not the first to ask this question. A former Sulekha columnist also wanted to co-write a book with me. Unfortunately, I do not have the time presently. Writing a book is serious business which entails not only writing it, but contacting publishers, marketers etc etc. Money is involved as well. Hopefully in the future I will.

And btw, you are again being judgemental on Sujeev. I thought you controlled your Garam Khoon!

Advaithan:
>>Assimilation (only euro-centric ideas, of course) is constantly being promoted as a virtue..

This is really sad. Many desis have bought the melting-pot shpeil - I prefer the salad-bowl method of diversity. My desi neighbour sends me a card for Christmas, but not for Diwali or any other Hindu festival. That's assimilation. I light up the house for both Diwali and Christmas. That's Adaptation.

>>Sid & SI, I find you surprisingly silent when non-hindus talk about caste, Gujarat etc.

Sid - you will find yourself defending against such nuts all along. That's because Secularism has been hijacked by a group of narrow-minded bigots who have changed its meaning to anti-Hinduism. True secularists like yourself have to first wrest back the phrase from them, and then come to debate with us. Then you will realise that no debate is needed, since we will be in the same camp!

Unequivocal/Kris,

Thanks for the support. The one thing that is common to SecularIndian and myself is that we are both pissed off at Brahmins, although for entirely different reasons. I am pissed of at them because they are not doing their job properly. It is their duty to do a purva-paksha of other religions and philosophies and see the merits and demerits in them. Brahmin does not mean that he should just do puja and distribute prasad(with an eye on the Hundi). He should provide spiritual and philosophical strength to the common people. He should deal with the Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra to see what problems they are facing, and work on resolving them without expecting any return for himself. That's what Chanakya, Shankara, Ramanuja etc did. That's what the Sringeri Shankaracharya did when he brought up the Vijayanagara kingdom as a southern bulwark against Mughals. And that's what the Kanchi Shankaracharya was doing all along until he was arrested.

Atibuddhi:

>>I have read all your articles and not one of them failed to make me think.

And I hope they were entertaining as well! Just pure philosophy can get boring.

My ideas are my own - not from the Vedas or anything else.

>>you are familiar with the manu smriti.

Oh, you mean that piece of trash that no Hindu has followed in at least the last few thousand years? That piece of junk that does not find a place on the bookshelf in any Hindu's house? No, I am not familiar with it.

>>am sure every male can identify a tinge of uneasiness when he sees a woman of his community with a man of another community.

And I am sure every female feels the same tinge of uneasiness when she sees a man from her community going out to a women of another community. However, these feelings are translated into direct action only by the male practitioners of a certain religion.

>>do I detect a condescending attitude towards other religions and cultures?

Any such condescending attitude is completely intentional! One does not have to be politically correct on Sulekha.

VC, I know what you mean. How dare anyone talk about the Sankaracharya being a moral person after everything he's done? All those schools, building temple after temple, mingling with Dalits - in fact, just about anyone. And then there are the really grave crimes - like the Sankara Eye Hospitals who provide free care to some 100,000 poor people every month, and are often on the cutting edge of care, for instance with their telemedicine program. That he should have wanted to do that for a children's hospital too is simply intolerable. That he should have worked to acheive peace between Hindus and Muslims over Ayodhya -- oh, he's got to face punishment for *that* crime....

And then of course, his wish to revive our traditions and reach young people with the knowledge contained in them-- too horrendous... especially for an intelligentsia that is hell-bent on desaffronifization.
