VC,

One more interesting attribute that defines religion - following without questioning. You really should read Balu's book, I raise the stake to 20 $. That as high as I can go.. ;-)

As far as raising the temp to 7000F is concerned I consider myself in elite company - you wanted to throw a certain someone in jail and now you adore him - so ? am i seeing a pattern here ? And if at this point you really feel serious about cranking it up to 7000F you need to know the right guys. When all else fails who do you call ?? Shan... ;-)

Chill man, peace..

Please do not misunderstand Phenom. The fact is that you DID act like an impulsive fool in your earlier posts. That's not how one has debates. That is the way a "fanatic" puts his POVs. Not how I'd expect a "man of science" to act.

I don't have any explanation of the "Soul Theory" - I mentioned this earlier. For all I know, I might be wrong about the soul theory. Humbly, Rudra.

#49, Of course, the possibility that behaviorism is a true advancement has to be summarily rejected without knowing anything about it. Let me repeat: in this thread, I was talking only about the secular view of religion, giving the example of the unitarians. In passing, I mentioned the behaviorist view of religion, that it is a controlling agency. Sankrant and tapori followed up on it and I was further responding to their comments. So much for the vaunted openness of Hinduism! VC

VC has a peculiar obsession with an obscure theory of psychology. Every person needs something to believe in, some lens through which life can be understood and experienced. VC has chosen behaviorism as his personal creed.

#46 Your comments are outrageous. In this thread, I am only responding to the specific comments made by Sankrant and tapori. Of course, this is matched only by your courage in posting under an anonymous name. VC

It is clear that white supremacy is sometimes what drives certain scholars into this career, so that they get to put their foot on the colored person's faith, since they cannot put him in physical chains or whip him any more. The barbarian instincts are as strong as ever, and need to get channeled, so this profession has served that purpose. Rather than complaining, why not be thankful that these people can satisfy their racist cravings in this way intellectualy, and not have to go about physically abusing.

There is also a certain kind of reputation Thompson has with female students in his New England campus. Wonder why they dont come out publicly instead of continuing to put up.

I know a student in the class of Cook who says that this man has the most despicable things to say about Hindus and Indians in his courses on Hinduism. Yet he knows how to make it very authentic sounding and to make the Hindus feel that he is being fair. Charming but deceitful is the assessment. Why is it that such voices dont want to identify themselves, when there is so much talk about free speech? One way to get more people to talk might be to have some formal hearing where they are guaranteed whistle blowers protection. Is anyone out there doing anything to save our fellow students in the religion courses with these maniacs?

Lets have a vote to find out how many persons feel that VC is being a pest, because he forces on every article the one thing he knows, and that is some obscure and long obsolete fellow named Skinner? There should be a separate portal outside Sulekha with one member, VC, so he can continue playing with himself uninterrupted.
